embrace

embrace series 2025

During my travels in Italy and Portugal I explored the physical relationship with my natural surroundings. I found holes in rocks and tree trunks, in which I felt invited to insert my hand.

In a fleeting moment, my body’s presence creates a piece of jewellery. Once I remove my arm, the embrace seizes to exist. What remains, is a memory. As I recreate the interaction in crochet, I rely on what my senses have once recorded. An internal image, cropped to what I perceive as jewellery, a texture that has once touched my skin, a space that demanded my presence. The feeling, that allowing to be tightly embraced by nature, I touched upon the infinite possibilities of empty space.
