Sophie Beer is a jewellery artist and art historian from Vienna (AT). She received her 3 year degree in goldsmithing and jewellery design at Le Arti Orafe Contemporary Jewellery School (LAO) in Florence (IT) in 2015. In the same year she was finalist of the BKV Prize exhibiting at Galerie des Bayerischen Kunsthandwerkvereins (DE); Selected Graduate of http://www.klimt02.net with her collection “Office 9-2-5”; finalist of AMBERIF DESIGN AWARD (PL) and exhibited unique pieces with LAO in IT and POC. In 2016 she participated at POTENTIALe Netzwerke, Feldkirch (AT) with an interactive workshop and exhibition. In 2017 she published the book “1990s Jewellery The Hans Schullin Collection”, with arnoldsche Art Publishers, Stuttgart and her artwork was published in Collection Magazine (LIB). In 2019 her brooch “Sausage of Fear” was shown at Schmuck / Schmock exhibition at TempContemp (AUT). During the pandemic she travelled throughout Europe in a makeshift van, collecting inspiration from nature and immersing herself in the methods and possibilities of photography and crochet. Since 2024 she lives in central Italy where she re-established her artistic practice. In 2025 her collection “embrace” has been selected for the Synergy Calls exhibition “Presence///Absence” at Galleria Carlo Lucidi (IT).
